ABOUT BLUE CROW GROUP

Building complex, multi-faceted partnerships between the non-profit, public, and private sectors

 Welcome

I’m so glad you stopped by.

My philosophy and approach to organizational development, strategic design, and team leadership leans heavily on my early years and background as a trail guide.

I learned the importance of having a clear direction to move toward, packing only the tools you need, preparing for the unexpected, paying attention to seemingly insignificant details, building a competent team with clear responsibilities, and relentless forward progress.

Meet Ray Blue

I have over 25 years of frontline experience building, training, and leading high functioning development and corporate relations teams. During that time, I have successfully built and managed complex, multifaceted partnerships between the nonprofit, public, and private sectors, working closely with companies like Nike, Whole Foods, Texas Mutual, and National Instruments.

I have designed and led development efforts for small organizations just getting started to large enterprises like Dell Children’s, United Way, and Austin ISD. Having served on a number of local Boards, I understand both sides of the complex space where staff and volunteers have to figure out how to dance together, creating a shared vision and aligning around a common purpose.

When I’m off the clock, I enjoy running long distances in the woods, cooking, yoga, live music, and spending time outside with my wife and best friend Erica, and two daughters Ruby and Zoey.

Why the name
Blue Crow Group?

Many cultures have long been fascinated by the intelligent bird. Some view it as a sign of good luck before starting on a journey. Others view it as a sign of personal growth and transformation.

My favorite crow myth speaks of the blue tint that shows off a crow's black feathers when the smallest ray of light hits it just right. In this tradition, the black feathers represent a dark void of the unknown, which takes on a brilliant shade of blue when hit by the light of insight.
